ट्रम्प द्वारा 50% टैरिफ की पुष्टि के बाद सोने की कीमतों में तेजी, तांबे में तेजी जारी
iGrain India - Shanghai. China imported only 35 lakh tonnes of soybean in March 2025, marking a 36.8% drop from March 2024 and the lowest March import since 2008. The decline is attributed to rising trade tensions with the US and delayed harvesting in Brazil.
According to China’s Customs Department, total soybean imports for January–March 2025 stood at 171.10 lakh tonnes, down 8% from 185.80 lakh tonnes in the same quarter last year. While imports were strong in January and February, March saw a sharp fall.
Analysts say the return of Donald Trump as US President in January raised fears of a renewed trade war, prompting caution among Chinese importers.
Meanwhile, Brazil—China’s main soybean supplier—faced delays in harvesting despite a record crop forecast.
China has now imposed a steep 125% import duty on American products, likely halting imports of soybean, wheat, and maize from the US.
In early March, additional duties of 10–15% were levied on US agricultural goods worth $21 billion, pushing total customs duties to around 135%.
