Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), an authorized agency of the Union Ministry of Commerce, shows that during the period under review, the export of pulses and pulses declined from 88,240 tonnes to 66,421 tonnes,
peanuts from 72,336 tonnes to 60,302 tonnes, non-basmati rice from 14,19,200 tonnes to 8,78,467 tonnes, wheat slipped from 1631 tonnes to 361 tonnes and coarse grains exports declined from 1,95,408 tonnes to 50,177 tonnes. On the other hand,
during the same period, export of guar gum increased from 30,190 tons to 39,513 tons, export of milled products improved from 16,608 tons to 23,342 tons and export of basmati rice jumped from 4,25,427 tons to 4,99,298 tons.
In the cashew category, export of processed cashew kernel improved from 3793 tons to 3979 tons, but export of cashew nut shell liquid decreased from 1757 tons to 447 tons. Thus, export of cashew fell from 2245 tons to 2101 tons.
There is a ban on commercial export of non-basmati white (raw) rice and wheat, while duty-free export of basmati rice continues. The domestic market of pulses is running very high, which is natural to affect its export.
