iGrain India - The USDA has projected a significant increase in global soybean production for the 2024-25 season, estimating a rise of 322.70 lakh tons, from 3948.70 lakh tons in the 2023-24 season to 4271.40 lakh tons. This increase is expected to come primarily from the top three soybean producers—Brazil, the United States, and Argentina.

  • Brazil: Soybean production is forecast to rise from 1530 lakh tons to 1690 lakh tons.
  • United States: Production is expected to grow from 1132.70 lakh tons to 1214.20 lakh tons.
  • Argentina: Soybean production is projected to improve from 482.10 lakh tons to 520 lakh tons.
    • In contrast, China, the largest importer of soybeans, is expected to see a slight decrease in its soybean production, from 208.40 lakh tons to 207 lakh tons.

    Other important details from the USDA's report:

    • Total Soybean Availability: This is expected to increase, with the global outstanding stock rising from 1011 lakh tons to 1121.60 lakh tons, and global production increasing by 322.70 lakh tons.
    • Imports: Global soybean imports are expected to increase slightly, from 1776.60 lakh tons to 1781.80 lakh tons.
    • Crushing Quantity: Soybean crushing is projected to increase from 3309.30 lakh tons to 3474.20 lakh tons.
    • Global Consumption: Global soybean consumption is expected to rise by 196.50 lakh tons, from 3839.90 lakh tons to 4036.40 lakh tons, despite the increase in production.
    Due to the strong production figures, the global soybean stock is expected to grow significantly, from 1121.60 lakh tons to 1318.70 lakh tons. Soybean crop preparation in the U.S. is nearing completion, while Brazil is set to begin planting next month, and Argentina will start in March.

    Other countries contributing to soybean production include India, Uruguay, Paraguay, Ukraine, and Canada.
